Step by Step how to cut at home
Time needed: 45 minutes.
If you can’t go outside for a hair cut, there are no better skills to learn than learning how to cut your hair by yourself. Here are the steps that I learned from wikihow.com regarding how to cut your own hair. The reason I wrote here is I changed some steps after deeply searched and I have to say that the result I take was fantastic. I hope you enjoy reading the article and in the end, you are able to cut your hair by yourself at home.
- Getting your hair ready to cut
Wash your hair and then dry it with a towel. The important point is your hair should be damp, but not soaking wet.
- Position yourself near a mirror and section your hair.
Use the comb to set a line between your head’ above and sides. Simply run the comb through your ears from your head curves like the picture above. You are going to do this action for both sides of your head. (If you stuck in this section you can go to the video tutorial at the end of this article).
- Setting the hair clipper.
Chose one of the low clipper sizes according to your needs and start trimming from the bottom of the sides to the top -that you set with the comb in the previous step.
Note: You have to choose wisely your clipper because if you choose a weak device, this process would be painful since the machine could start pulling your hair. Thus, I searched all devices at the market, read all reviews and found Philips HC5630 as the best one. In addition to its spectacular specs, it was also in line with my budget limits. I will share its specs under this article as well.
- Cut your back and sides with a hair clipper.
Then, repeat this process on the other side of your head. The important point is you have to make sure both sides of your head have the same transition length. After cutting your sides, trim the back of your head from the bottom to the top as you did with the sides.
- Creating fades between cuts
To create a good transition between your cuts, you should push the machine slighter as you go through the higher of your sides. It is easier than you think. You just need some practice. Also, you will see a sample cut in the video at the end of this article.
- Cutting the top with scissors or the trimmer
If you have professional styling scissors-like Suvorna 6 Precision Razor Edge, you can use it while cutting your hair, otherwise, I don’t suggest you using household scissors for cutting hair since they are not sharp enough to properly cut hair. Instead, you can use your trimmer as I do.
Use your fingers or a comb to raise a bunch of hair from the top of your head. Each time cut as smallest as you can. Don’t forget you can always trim more if you think it is not enough. As you trim, pull a little of the previously cut section into the new section as a guideline.
- Final Step: Cut your sideburns and neckline
As a final step, cut your sideburns to your desired length. For the neckline, I suggest getting help from your wife, siblings, mother, father, or one of your friends.
